In early September, 2004, when Tom Henry Chevrolet made its first sale of the all-new, C6 Corvette, much of the dealership's staff turned out to watch the happy customer take delivery. The first 2005 model of America's Sports Car, a Coupe painted the rare Precision Red, to go through the Bakerstown, Pennsylvania, Chevrolet dealer was just that big a deal because the people at Tom Henry Chevrolet and its subsidiary Tom Henry Racing are so devoted to Corvettes and their owners.

For nearly 50 years, the Henry family has been selling Corvettes to the Northeast and Upper Midwest. Current owner, Tom Henry, has been hooked on the Corvette since he was a teenager. The founder of the business, Tom's Dad, sold him a new, ’72 LT1, four-speed coupe, which Tom still owns. He, also, owns two other Vettes and his sister, Sue Scott, who also works at the dealership, owns an ’04 Convertible, one of 14 Corvettes she’s owned in the last 25 years or so. With Tom and his Sister both owning Vettes and being involved in the Northeastern U.S. Corvette enthusiast community; it's no wonder Tom Henry Chevrolet's sales, service and parts departments have specialized in America's Sports Car.

A ZR-1 is a special, high-performance Corvette sold from 1990-1995. It has a small, but fanatic following in the Vette enthusiast community, including Tom Henry, himself, who's owned several of what was known in the '90s as the "King of the Hill Corvette".

Through ZR-1 ownership, friendships formed in the close-knit, ZR-1 community and involvement with "The Gathering" an event for ZR-1 owners and their families every May at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky; Tom Henry Racing has bonded with that niche of the Vette hobby. Today, many ZR-1 owners and service shops, not only in the U.S., but worldwide, make Tom Henry Racing (THR) their ZR-1 parts source.

The "C5 era" began in 1997 and Tom Henry was right there, making Corvettes available at great prices to customers, not only in the vicinity of his dealership, 15-miles north of Pittsburgh, but also, via the Internet, to Corvette buyers nationwide and even overseas. When the extreme-performance, Z06 arrived in 2001, Tom Henry Racing specialized in finding those in-demand Vettes, especially the rare 2004 Z16 model, for his loyal customers.

It follows that, with the introduction of the, fabulous, all-new C6, THR will continue to meet the needs of Corvette customers looking for something just a little special with the most unique products Chevrolet has to offer and at the best prices.

C6 was introduced back on January, 4th, 2004, at the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show. Last Spring, the THR web site staff developed "intel" about a C6 press preview scheduled for early-June. Chevrolet doesn't really consider us "media" but we wanted the low-down on the new Corvette so badly; we went to Detroit to "infiltrate" this event.

That morning, while security guards took a break at the local Krispy Kreme; we snuck into this secret preview.  Upon getting our first look at the new, '05 Vette, early that morning, we were stunned by it's killer looks. Wow! Talk about a great looking car!

At 10 A.M. On January 4, 2004 at the Greater Los Angeles Automobile Show, Corvette fans saw C6 for the first time. It was introduced at the Detroit Auto Show the next day.

After a long first look at the car, we blended in with all the media. Before the Chevy folks got hip to our act, we were able to get some "seat time". We drove several 2005 Corvettes on a looping route on rural roads west of Detroit, and later, for a few hard laps on a high-speed test track at GM's gigantic Milford Proving Ground, 35-miles northwest of Detroit.
